Louise Jordan
Hello, I’m Lou, a mixed media artist with a love for hand-cut collage, textiles, and making with my hands. My work explores memory, emotion, and imagination through cutting, layering, and arranging materials into tactile visual stories. Recently, I’ve been combining painting with collage, embracing the freedom and expressiveness of paint alongside constructed layers. My process is playful and experimental, guided by curiosity and intuition. Using printed scraps, vintage textiles, bold colours, and unexpected textures, I create whimsical yet familiar worlds that invite visual escapism and often capture the feeling of a treasured memory.

For me, art is about freedom — the freedom to explore, to make without rigid rules, and to let curiosity and colour take over. I rarely begin with a fixed plan; instead, I follow instinct and respond in the moment. There is comfort in not knowing exactly where a piece will end up — it’s often in that uncertainty that the work comes alive.
