Kaia Rose
Kaia is a photographer and filmmaker based in Forest Hill committed to curious and meaningful visual storytelling. Her award-winning short film Fugetsu-do and webseries Climate Countdown have both screened at festivals around the world and she has spent the last decade working in climate communications, producing hundreds of videos that illuminate different facets of the climate story for such organisations as the World Bank and United Nations. As a photographer, she enjoys exploring mixed media techniques while capturing the topography, geometry, and idiosyncrasy of natural and urban landscapes, particularly at moments where they intersect.

This short documentary integrates the history of Japanese American incarceration into an intimate portrait of a mochigashi store in downtown LA and the resilient Kito family, who have kept it running for 120 years and whose story of survival runs through the heart of the Japanese American experience.
