Technical Tutor

Goldsmiths’ Design Department is seeking a Technical Tutor to support students within its Design Fabrication Labs. This hands-on teaching role involves working directly with students to provide technical guidance, promote creative thinking, and support the realisation of material-led design projects. With particular expertise in textiles and textile printing processes, you will also contribute to a wider transdisciplinary lab environment, supporting areas such as digital fabrication, moulding and casting, image and graphics, and general fabrication. The role includes delivering Technical Studies modules, maintaining specialist equipment, and contributing to a vibrant, experimental learning culture within one of the UK’s leading creative universities.

Key skills:

Advanced textiles expertise, particularly textile printing processes

Experience supporting practice-based learning environments

Ability to deliver one-to-one and group technical teaching

Knowledge of transdisciplinary making (digital fabrication, moulding & casting, graphics)

Strong ability to contextualise and guide student projects

Equipment maintenance, servicing, and workshop safety

Excellent communication and facilitation skills
