Senior Designer

Saqi Books is seeking a Senior Designer to lead the visual identity of its acclaimed independent publishing house. Salary: £30,000–£40,000 pro rata (part-time, permanent). This hands-on strategic role covers book cover design, interiors, branding, and marketing collateral, taking concepts from brief to final production. You will collaborate closely with Editorial, Marketing, and Sales, while commissioning and managing illustrators, photographers, and typographers. With creative autonomy and influence over house style, you’ll shape the aesthetic direction of the entire list, support rebranding initiatives, and maintain high design standards across all outputs. Key skills:

5–8 years’ experience in book, publishing, or typographic design

Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Strong portfolio demonstrating covers, interiors, and series branding

Excellent communication and stakeholder management

Ability to oversee multiple design projects and meet deadlines

Experience commissioning and managing freelancers within budgets

Strong understanding of print and digital production specs
