Senior Stage Manager

The Barbican Music department is seeking an experienced Senior Stage Manager to lead its stage management team and deliver world-class events in the Concert Hall and beyond. This pivotal role oversees rehearsals, performances, recordings, and commercial events, ensuring staging requirements are met across classical, contemporary, and business events. The postholder will line-manage stage staff, maintain stage equipment and backstage areas, and uphold the highest standards of safety and technical excellence. With evening and weekend work required, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Europe’s leading arts centres.

Key skills:

Extensive stage management and leadership experience in music/arts venues

Strong knowledge of classical and contemporary music production processes

Proven ability to manage staff, budgets, and resources effectively

Excellent technical knowledge of stage equipment, sound, and lighting

Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management

Exceptional organisational and project management skills

Clear communication and collaborative interpersonal skills
