SOUTH LONDON ZINE FESTIVAL

Submissions are now open for South London Zine Festival 2019!

Select up to five of your zines, show and sell them alongside all the other locally made zines in one of Deptford’s coolest venues – Deptford does Art!

No judgement, all submissions (unless offensive) are to be accepted, making this a true representation of zine culture in London. This will be an invigilated festival so zine makers don’t have to be present throughout the show but are more then welcome to take part in events and hopefully can join us on the opening night on Friday 2 August 7-11pm for some drinks and networking!

There are several parts to the festival. The first is the exhibition, which will be in the basement gallery space, where one copy of each zine submitted will be hung from the wall. Visitors will be able to move through the space, picking up & reading zines as they walk around. Publications will be hung at different heights with maker’s bio, story and details next to it.

As this is an unfunded event we kindly ask everyone submitting zines to this festival to pay £5 fee (per person entering, not per zine). This fee covers the basic costs of running the space, printing marketing materials and promotion. If you’d like to include more than 2 publications please do let us know - we can see if we can fit more, depending on number of submissions by 23rd July.

The second part of the festival is the ground floor shop, where people can sell their zines. These are to be dropped week before - between 24th to 28th July and will be available for people to buy over the festival (25% commission on sale).

There won’t be any tabling, like at a standard zine fair, as there isn’t enough space and we’re keen for the focus to be an interactive exhibition, alongside a mixture of free and paid-for events.

The third part are events. We are planning a number of events throughout the festival such as talks, workshops, music & more. If you’d like to get involved and run a workshop/talk/performance please let us know. Be part of this huge zine celebration!

After submitting please EMAIL: deptforddoesart@gmail.com (subject ZINE FEST) with a short bio, story and social media/website links - deadline 24 July 2019!

Please print your submission ticket and include as part of the delivery package with a note of the number of copies of each zine & price. Please make sure each zine has a price on it, either written in pencil or on a sticker (Price including commission).

Drop off at the gallery between 24-28 July 10-6pm. Each maker is invited to deliver up to 5 copies of each zines submitted for sale throughout the festival and some will be invited to keep their stock in our shop after the festival.
