Simon is a primary school teacher handcuffed to a tree in protest of the climate crisis. It is 3am, and his friends have abandoned him.

Benoit is an oil drilling engineer with nothing left to lose, roving the streets and looking for kicks.

What ensues is a clash of personality, ideology, and culture in a compulsive, high-octane romp through England, France, dating apps, primate psychology and the end of the world. In one hour, in one night, in central London, everything will fall apart.

Complicité is a brand-new comedy of opposites and the story of two men with nothing in common beyond their humanity who are forced to stand on the same ground.

Complicité was written and directed by Finn Lanchester for a rehearsed reading at the Bread and Roses Theatre in April 2026. It is produced by Finn’s production company scorcher as their debut production.
