Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra

12 Dec 19 — 12 Dec 19
Venue: Blackheath Halls
Conductor - Matthew Coorey
Gustav Holst - 'Egdon Heath', Op. 47, H. 172
Elizabeth Maconchy - 'The Land'
Grace Williams - Symphony No. 2

Composed within three years of each other, Holst’s 'Egdon Heath' and Maconchy’s 'The Land' take inspiration from literature in their depiction of nature. Their contemporary Grace Williams wrote commandingly for orchestra, blending styles to create a distinctive sound, as shown in Symphony No. 2. If you’ve enjoyed our Venus Blazing day, this concert is the perfect ending!

A short film will be shown during the concert, documenting an intergenerational group’s response to Grace William’s Symphony No. 2 as part of the Symphony Unwrapped project. Please note that this will be taking place of the original 18.30 event in the Hearn Recital Room.
