Allison Parkinson: Tiger's Eye Books

I am a Catford-based children’s author and illustrator. My books celebrate diversity and take young readers on fun and educational adventures. I have published seven books to date and have many more in the pipeline.
I was inspired to start writing stories when my daughters (who are mixed race) were younger because they found it almost impossible to find books where the central character looked like them. By basing many of my characters and illustrations on my daughters, she hopes to do her small bit to help more children see themselves at the centre of adventures.
I am passionate about sharing stories, especially at a time when so many children have no books of their own. I am a volunteer at the Corbett Community Library in Catford, where I run a weekly storytelling session, and I also read my stories on my bi-weekly podcast: Tiger’s Eye Tales: https://tigerseyetales.podbean.com/
