Adam Wiseman Photography
Adam Wiseman is a Mexican photographer and visual artist born in Mexico City in 1970, currently based between London and Mexico City. His work sits at the intersection of documentary and conceptual photography, questioning ideas of objectivity and exploring how architecture, place, identity and lived experience shape the stories we tell. His projects often combine photographic practice with collaborative and participatory approaches, where process becomes as important as the final image.
Over the last two decades his work has explored the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit, from migration and self-built architecture in Mexico to more recent work examining communities and everyday urban life in London. His projects frequently challenge traditional documentary conventions, creating spaces where fact, interpretation and personal experience overlap.
Wiseman has exhibited and published internationally and was twice awarded Mexico’s National System of Art Creators fellowship (SNCA/FONCA). His work has been featured in publications including The Guardian, Wallpaper, Vice and Photo London. He is the author of five books, including Elvis Never Was in Acapulco (2024).
Alongside his artistic practice, he is Senior Lecturer and Head of Photography at the University of East London, where he develops projects connecting photography, education and public engagement.
